HVV in Figures

HVV services are provided in an area covering 8,700 square kilometres – that’s not only the whole of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, but also all of the bordering counties in the regional states of Schleswig-Holstein and Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony). The HVV service area is home to approx. 3.32 million residents. On average, around 1.95 million passengers travel on our services each workday. We’re really quite proud of our market share: In Hamburg, 25% of all trips are made on public transport services. For trips to and from work this in fact rises to 33%. And in the city area we account for approx. 67% of the modal split.
