One ticket, one fare and an integrated public transport offer – these are the advantages of a transport association and the pillar on which all activities here at HVV, the Hamburg Transport Association (Hamburger Verkehrsverbund), are firmly based.

As the competent public transport authorities (PTAs) the Bundesländer (regional states) and local counties are obliged to organize and finance public transport in their areas. In order to implement this task they established HVV GmbH.

Today HVV GmbH assumes responsibility for managing the entire service offer on behalf of three regional states, seven counties, 35 public transport operating companies and approx. 3.3 million residents. That includes all services by bus, harbour/river ferry and rapid transit - (U-, S-, A-Bahn) or regional rail (R-Bahn).
