Hamburg CARD – Your Explorer Pass
Filled with the finest that Hamburg has to offer, a Hamburg CARD or Hamburg Card - plus Region are the practical and inexpensive way to explore the city and its surrounding area.
With these leisure-time passes you are entitled to unlimited travel by bus and train throughout the HVV service area. In addition, you enjoy discounts at or on over 160 tourist- or other interesting offers. These include:
- City-sightseeing bus tours and boat trips around the port or on the River Alster
- Places of interest, attractions and museums
- Participating restaurants and shops
- Souvenirs
The Hamburg CARD leisure-time pass is valid for travel within the HVV Großbereich (Greater Hamburg Area). This comprises the city state of Hamburg and certain surrounding municipalities and towns.
With a Hamburg CARD - plus Region pass you may travel throughout the Gesamtbereich (Total Network). For a map of our fare zones please click the related link at the bottom of these pages.

Essential information on the Hamburg CARD leisure-time pass:
- Both types of pass are valid on all HVV public transport services:
U- and S-Bahn rapid-transit rail, regional trains, buses, MetroBuses, SchnellBus limited-stop/Eilbus sprinter services, night buses and harbour ferries. First-class travel is not included. - A Solo Pass is valid for one adult and up to 3 children (6-14 years inclusive)
- A Group Pass is valid for up to 5 personsof any age
- The upgrade required on SchnellBus limited-stop services is included
- Both passes are valid on the days you have selected (see stamp) and expire when public-transport services terminate on the last of these days. Services for one day officially terminate at 0600 hours the following day. Only consecutive days of validity are permitted.
How to buy the Hamburg CARD?
You can buy a Hamburg CARD from HVV ticket vending machines, at HVV service centres, on board buses and at the Tourist Information Centres (Hauptbahnhof/Central Station, Harbour, Airport). Many Hamburg hotels, youth hostels and travel agencies also sell these passes. Or – if you prefer – simply phone 040 - 300 51 300 or visit the website www.hamburg-tourismus.de to obtain your Hamburg CARD.
Please note that it is not possible to buy the 5-day Pass or Hamburg CARD - plus Region on board buses.
