Tickets for trainees / apprentices and students
For trainees, apprentices or students who regularly use bus or train services we offer reduced-price monthly season tickets and the supersaver annual Abo-Karte all year travel pass.
Semester Ticket
On paying their semester tuition fee students at the universities listed below will automatically receive an HVV Semester Ticket valid in the Gesamtbereich Total HVV Network together with their matriculation or other administrative documents. With a Semester Ticket you are entitled to travel as often and whenever you like within the Gesamtbereich Total HVV Network during the semester specified on the ticket. This offer also includes SchnellBus limited stop services.

Students at the Leuphana University of Lüneburg receive a separate Semester Ticket.
TIP: When travelling with a Semester Ticket valid for the various Hamburg universities you may take along up to 3 children aged between 6 and 14 years inclusive. Children under 6 years of age travel free-of-charge on HVV services.
We offer the following season tickets for apprentices, trainees and students
In order to buy a season ticket for apprentices, trainees or students you must present a completed certificate of authorization. Its authenticity must either be confirmed by your institute of learning or, if you are a trainee or apprentice, by the company at which you are receiving professional training and then by the competent Chamber of Commerce, Crafts and Industry.
As a trainee or apprentice you receive the application form (certificate of authorization) by post as soon as your contract of apprenticeship or professional training has been registered at the local Chamber of Commerce, Crafts and Industry. Otherwise you can obtain this form at any HVV service centre or via the HVV Infoline on Tel. 040- 19 449.
Provided their institute of learning is listed in the HVV official schools register students can obtain the application form for a certificate of authorization at HVV service centres, from the secretary at their respective institute of learning or by phoning our HVV Infoline on Tel. 040- 19 449.
No problem at all – the few steps to your monthly season ticket
An HVV season ticket always consists of a customer photocard and a corresponding voucher indicating the period of validity.
- First select the ticket type you require and the area of validity as shown in the HVV Fare Zone Plan. Or enter the mask for our HVV Timetable Information service and let the assistant guide you to the right HVV season ticket just for you.
- If you do not yet have a customer photocard we will be glad to issue one to you at any of our HVV service centres. Just bring along a passport photo you’d like us all to see and the certificate of authorization.
- Once we have issued your customer photocard and the corresponding coupon indicating the period of validity you are free to travel on HVV services. Please note that your season ticket is only valid in conjunction with the certificate of authorization. Remember to take this with you whenever you travel.
That’s all you have to do. The easiest and most convenient way to buy your coupon week for week or month for month is at our HVV service centres.

Period of validity:
Monthly season tickets are valid during the month specified on the ticket from midnight on the first of the month until services officially terminate on the first workday of the following month (ie 0600 the following day). If this workday is a Saturday these tickets are valid until services officially terminate on the next following workday.
Familienpass (Family Pass)/ Sozialkarte (Welfare Ticket):
Hamburg citizens with a Familienpass (Family Pass) / Sozialkarte (Welfare Pass) are entitled to a price concession of 5 Euros / 18 Euros respectively per month and person paid by the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg on HVV monthly season tickets, the Abo-Karte (all-year travel pass) and ProfiCard (Job Ticket). Advance purchase:
All season tickets can be purchased up to 2 months in advance at any HVV service centre. If you already have a customer photocard the corresponding coupon indicating the period of validity can conveniently be purchased from our season-ticket vending machines.
Transferability:
Unless otherwise specified these travel passes are not transferable to other persons.
Subject to the conditions of the HVV Integrated Fares System.
Study programmes and internships / job placements outside of Hamburg
