Children under 6 always travel free of charge on hvv services. For children older than 6, there are reduced-price single/day tickets or school passes. These can already be used if children have not yet started school.
Children / Schoolchildren
School passes
The hvv offers special tickets, for instance the hvv Deutschlandticket, for all school students in regular primary or secondary education at a public school. The type of ticket offered, the price and the rules on its use depend on where you live.
hvv Deutschlandtickt for school students
Students living in Hamburg are eligible for a price reduction on the hvv Deutschlandticket. Thanks to a subsidy from the City of Hamburg, the all-year subscription only costs € 19 a month. If you qualify for the social discount, you get the hvv Deutschlandticket free of charge.
You need an entitlement form to buy these tickets. This can be obtained in our service centres and often in the school secretariats:
- From 6 up to the age of 14, your age is checked (only the first time).
- From the age of 15 upwards, a currently valid entitlement form must be shown.
- For an all-year school pass, there may be a digital check on your entitlement to it
After the form has been filled out and validated by the school, reduced-price all-year passes can be bought either in the Online Shop or in person at one of our service centres.

As an alternative to the hvv Deutschlandticket there are special monthly tickets for school students:
