Tickets for school children

The HVV has special tickets for all children in regular primary or secondary education at a public school. For all other schools, please ask in your child’s school secretariat or call the HVV Infoline on 040/19 449 to find out if the school is on the HVV list of verified eligible schools.

Tickets for schoolchildren are issued via the HVV service centres.
N.B.: The arrangements for this may be different in some surrounding districts of Hamburg.

If you are buying a ticket for a child up to 14 years of age, you need to present an entitlement form (a pre-printed HVV form) or some other official proof of age at a HVV service centre. This only needs to be filled out once.

You can get the entitlement form at any HVV service centre and often in the secretariat at your child’s school. It needs to be filled out and then validated by the school.

When buying a ticket for a child aged 15 or older, a new entitlement form must be submitted.

You can get the entitlement form at any HVV service centre and often in the secretariat at your child’s school. It needs to be filled out and then validated by the school.

The Leisure Pass (you need to present your entitlement form when you buy it) for 8.20 € a month is aimed at school children 15 and over who don’t have an all-year season ticket, but would like to use HVV services in the afternoon and at weekends.  It is valid from 2 pm and all day at weekends, on public holidays and in the school holidays. It allows you to buy single or day tickets at the child’s price.

You can get the entitlement form at any HVV service centre and often in the secretariat at your child’s school. It needs to be filled out and then validated by the school.

Tickets for schoolchildren up to 10th grade are ordered and delivered via the school secretariats. The ticket consists either of a HVV Card or a personal travel pass (with a photo of the child) and sticker.

In the administrative districts of Pinneberg, Segeberg, Stormarn, Herzogtum Lauenburg, Stade, Harburg and Lüneburg, the district administration and the school boards will pay for these tickets for schoolchildren who need to travel a minimum distance1 between their home and school. In the administrative districts of Herzogtum Lauenburg, Pinneberg and Segeberg, holders of tickets will be required to pay a contribution towards the cost of the ticket themselves. Details can be obtained from the authorities in the individual administrative districts or you can find an overview in the brochures (in German only) for Herzogtum Lauenburg (PDF 1.3 MB) and Kreis Segeberg (PDF 1.3 MB).

Do you need a wider area of validity than the one that the district administration and the school boards are willing to pay for? Then you can simply buy a supplementary ticket for individual journeys or alternatively you can get the so-called SchülerPlusTicket at any HVV service centre (just present the regular schoolchildren’s ticket) as a top-up monthly or all-year season ticket.

1 This falls within the discretion of the individual country districts.
