Tickets for schoolchildren up to 10th grade are ordered and delivered via the school secretariats. The ticket consists either of a HVV Card or a personal travel pass (with a photo of the child) and sticker.
In the administrative districts of Pinneberg, Segeberg, Stormarn, Herzogtum Lauenburg, Stade, Harburg and Lüneburg, the district administration and the school boards will pay for these tickets for schoolchildren who need to travel a minimum distance1 between their home and school. In the administrative districts of Herzogtum Lauenburg, Pinneberg and Segeberg, holders of tickets will be required to pay a contribution towards the cost of the ticket themselves. Details can be obtained from the authorities in the individual administrative districts or you can find an overview in the brochures (in German only) for Herzogtum Lauenburg (PDF 1.3 MB) and Kreis Segeberg (PDF 1.3 MB).
Do you need a wider area of validity than the one that the district administration and the school boards are willing to pay for? Then you can simply buy a supplementary ticket for individual journeys or alternatively you can get the so-called SchülerPlusTicket at any HVV service centre (just present the regular schoolchildren’s ticket) as a top-up monthly or all-year season ticket.
1 This falls within the discretion of the individual country districts.
