The hvv Deutschlandticket at a glance

Reduced-price tickets

Senior citizens 67 or over living in Hamburg The hvv Deutschlandticket for senior citizens living in Hamburg (in the hvv switch App or on the hvv chipcard) costs only € 49 per month.
School studentsThe costs for a school pass (on the hvv chipcard) depend on where you live - Hamburg, Lower Saxony or Schleswig-Holstein.
Persons living in Hamburg entitled to the social discountFor all those entitled to the social discount, the City of Hamburg finances a monthly reduction on the price for the hvv Deutschlandticket on the hvv chipcard.
Further reduced-price tickets forEmployees (the hvv Jobticket), apprentices and trainees, university students or refugees

App or chipcard

It’s direct and fast – load the hvv switch App (in German), buy your regular ticket with just a few clicks and off you go:

Payment options in the hvv switch App are PayPal, credit card or direct debit.

Load the ticket into your wallet – then you always have it ready to hand, even when you are offline. 

With the hvv switch App you also always have the timetable info available at your fingertips, you can buy further tickets, use car or ride sharing services or book a MOIA shuttle or an e-scooter. 

Our tip: Please order your reduced-price tickets (with the exception of  the hvv Deutschlandticket for senior citizens living in Hamburg) online as a chipcard or in person at one of our service centres, since price reductions cannot be taken into account in the App.

Just order the hvv Deutschlandticket as a chipcard online – it’s easy.

And this is how it works: 

When you order, enter the date your ticket is to be valid from, your personal details and your bank account for the direct debit procedure. Later in the ordering process you will need to log in or register with meinhvv. You can then manage your subscription yourself there as well as make alterations in future. 

After ordering, you will receive a  confirmation email and your chipcard will be sent to you by post within 10 days.   

Alternatively you can sign up for a subscription in person in one of our service centres.

Good to know

With certain tickets or an additional ticket as a top-up to an existing season ticket you can take other persons along with you. You can see the rules in detail from the following table:

N.B.:

  • Children under the age of 6 always travel free of charge on hvv services.
  • Public holidays differ from federal state to federal state. On hvv services, the public holidays celebrated in the federal states of Hamburg, Lower Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein apply.
  • Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve are not public holidays, but are treated on our services as if they were Saturdays.

Season tickets are not transferable.

  • 1 journey: Upgrade 1st class for regional trains RB/RE per journey  3.70 € (valid in fare rings A-F).
  • 1 day: Upgrade 1st class for regional trains RB/RE per day 6.30 € (valid in fare rings A-F).
  • 1 month: Upgrade 1st class for regional trains RB/RE for a whole month 54.30 € (valid on the entire hvv network)
